ACL Music Festival Austin City Limits 2018

It’s almost time for the musicians to take the stage and enlighten us with a language everyone understands: music. Yes, the Austin City Limits [ACL] Music festival is nearing and with it the excitement to watch the brilliant artists display their talents.

Austin City Limits: The Event

This annual event takes place on two consecutive, three-day weekends in October. The festival started in 2002 and, initially, took up only one weekend. It wasn’t until 2013 that the event spread out over two weekends.

This festival is the child of the ACL television music program that’s recorded in Austin, Texas. The ACL show was Bill Arhos’s idea and the first season ran in 1976. The show helped to put Austin on the map as “Live Music Capital of the World.” The ACL television show also helped to make the festival the success it is.

The park will be set with eight stages from the 5th of October to the 7th of October and the 12th of October to the 14th of October. super bowl 2018

The Super Bowl is an iconic time of year! It’s the game, the skill, the effort, and the dedication – and so much more! It’s a time of year that we all look forward to. Especially, the commercials. It’s possibly the only time of year that we get excited to see a marketing plan play out in front of us. It’s the spark, message, creativity, and humor!

Every game will be on almost every TV in the US and hundreds of other screens all around the world. Every game will have you on the edge of your seat, ready to cheer for your team or have tears rolling down your face. This is precisely the reason why the world’s biggest brands spend time and money to have the perfect commercial playing on every screen because no matter the outcome – a good ad will have you thinking of something different!

Everyone has their own opinions, this is true. But, these commercials are undoubtedly winning the day:

Apple – 1984 Super Bowl Commercial, “1984”

This commercial was only ever aired once on television, and that was during the 3rd quarter of the 1984 Super Bowl football game. Many people that watched this ad suspected that it would be an utter flop. But, the ad was not at all a flop. Mesmerized consumers flooded electronic stores the following week when the Macintosh hit the shelves.

The ad portrayed Apple’s message very clearly: “Think Differently,” and technology will be a game changer.

Pepsi – 1992 Super Bowl Commercial, “Cindy Crawford”

The early 90’s brought life to the “Original Supermodels,” Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, and Tatjana Patitz. It makes sense that the Pepsi company would partner with one of the superstars to promote their product.  An iconic commercial that won’t be easily forgotten, a superstar, a supercar, and the, then, newly designed can.

MacDonald’s – 1993 Super Bowl Commercial, “The Showdown”

The commercial is more than just a little ludicrous, but it was an instant hit. The ad brought together two rivals to keep shooting hoops until one person would miss, whoever misses would have to watch the other eat a Big Mac. Yes, the shots were impossible, but this ad made the saying “nothing but net” famous and has had a few remakes since.

Budweiser – 1995 Super Bowl Commercial, “Singing Frogs”

It’s so simple that it’s brilliant! This famous Singing Frogs ad played on the simple syllables of the word Budweiser. Singing frogs are bound to be a definite win!

Doritos – 2007 Super Bowl Commercial, “Live The Flavor”

This commercial perfectly explains the Doritos flavors. It’s love at first “Doritos” sight, it’s got a concerning storyline, and it makes you cackle – what more does an ad need to do?

Google – 2009 Super Bowl Commercial, “Parisian Love”

This particular ad wasn’t meant to be a commercial to be televised during the Super Bowl. But, after Google saw all the positive reactions from the YouTube ads, the company decided to show it off during the Super Bowl. It is an honest representation of the daily searches people make when they are starting a family.

Old Spice – 2010 Super Bowl Commercial, “The Man, Your Man Could Smell Like”

This is the ad that revolutionized memes. This commercial was shot with a YouTube Lebel production, which worked to reach its targeted audience. Other brands have tried to replicate the meme styled ad, but Old Spice still takes the win!

Snickers – 2010 Super Bowl Commercial, “Betty White”

This is a must-see ad! Snickers hit the jackpot when the company started the slogan “You’re not you when you’re hungry,” and the saying does ring very true! Betty White was just the start of a series of celebrities playing the “hangry” roles.

Volkswagen – 2011 Super Bowl Commercial, “The Force”

It’s a Star Wars themed ad, how can it not be a winner? This was just what Volkswagen needed to get back into the Super Bowl commercial scene. Playing on a child’s imagination and technological advances was just pure genius!

Amazon – 2018 Super Bowl Commercial, “Alexa Loses Her Voice”

Humorous, enjoyable, and truthful. The commercial does point out that A.I has become heavily relied on, but it does also point out that people are uniquely different and require different pieces of information to get about their day. Not sure if Gordon Ramsay shouting at you is the solution to Alexa not being able to speak, though.

Are you itching to watch all the commercials, performances, and game plays live?

Istanbul Airshow

The Istanbul Airshow turns 22 years-old this year. Although the show is young, it provides the aviation industry with the unique chance to reach the Eurasian airports and aviation markets.

This show is the main biennial event that covers Turkey, the Balkans, the Middle East, CIS Republics, and extends to the Turkish Republics, as well as Central Asia. This show is made even more unique by being the only “civil only” airshow in the region and amongst one of the very few in the world.

Turkey stepped into the era of restructuring and investing earlier than most nations in its region. By doing so, the country sets a benchmark for the aviation market within Eurasia and the Middle East.

The event planners draw inspiration from the pivotal role the country plays by designing a one-of-a-kind airshow. The aim is to establish a business platform that is concentrated on civil aviation – how to serve, contribute, and meet the challenges affecting these markets?

As usual, the show will attract the big names from the aviation industry and, of course, Jetex – where we look forward to presenting the HondaJet Elite after being appointed as HondaJet Middle East!

The 4-day event is being held at the Istanbul Ataturk Airport, with the show’s gates opening on September 27th and closing on September 30th. The opening times will be:

September 27th, 2018

1:00 P.M – 3:00 P.M

September 28th, 2018

10:00 A.M – 6:00 P.M

September 29th, 2018

10:00 A.M – 6:00 P.M

September 30th, 2018

Open to the public from 10:00 A.M to 3:00 P.M

2018 fashion week Paris

Paris, the City of Light, the City of Love, home to the Eiffel Tower, home to the Louvre museum, home to Disney Land Paris, and home to Paris Fashion Week.

September marks the beginning of a spectacular time of year – when designers from four cities unveil their latest fashion designs in a remarkable month of Fashion Weeks. The month kicks off in New York, before moving to London, then Milan, before ending with a bang is the wondrous Paris.

Coco Chanel once said that “fashion is architecture: it is a matter of proportions.” With that quote in mind, it does make you wonder, how did four cities from around the globe each come to have their own Fashion Week that led to this fashion-packed month?

This may be surprising, but the first Fashion Week in the world took place in New York, not Paris. However, the idea of Fashion Week was taken from the Salon Shows [défilés de mode], or fashion parades, that took place in Paris couture salons.

Designers in Paris started showing their designs to their purchasing clients on mannequins in “fashion showings” in the 1700’s. In the 1800’s, the showings changed when Charles Fredrick Worth, the Haute Couture creator, started to show multiple, high-quality pieces.

In 1945, the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture established rules that would help to regulate and determine Haute Couture houses. They would do so by asking each Haute Couture house would present a minimum of 35 runs of daytime and evening wear every season. In 1973, the first officially recognized Paris Fashion Week took place.

That’s the story of how Paris came to have its own Fashion Week, but what designers will be showing off their latest and best designs at the end of September 2018?

Jetex, always completing your journey!
2018 fashion week New York

That hectic, wonderful time of year is just around the corner, a full month of designs that will get anyone’s jaw to drop with excitement, fascination, or shock. Yes, it’s almost time for the Big 4, four back to back fashion weeks starting with New York Fashion Week, going into London Fashion Week, then Milan Fashion Week, and finally Paris Fashion Week!

The Fashion Week excitement for any fashionista cannot be helped, but where did it all begin? How did New York, then London, Milan, and Paris all come to have Fashion Weeks?

“Style is self-expression with creativity and showmanship – something that makes you memorable and makes people want to imitate you,” this message is from the brilliant lady that created the first Fashion Week in the world, Eleanor Lambert.

In 1943, Eleanor, as the director of The New York Dress Institute [the first promotional organization for American fashion] started what was known as “Press Week.” This first fashion week was created with the intent of helping American designers to showcase their work to fashion journalists, who had been ignoring the American innovation. In the 1950’s the event had a slight name change and was known as “Press Week of New York.”

In 1993, the Council of Fashion Designers of American [CFDA] decided to rename the event to what it is now “New York Fashion Week,” creating a more centralized naming system.

That was then, but here we are in 2018 in the run-up to the Spring/Summer collection, anxiously waiting to see what these designers have in store!

Milan

Every fashionista is sat on the edge of their seat in anticipation as the month of fashion approaches. The month starts in the beautiful city of New York for the New York Fashion Week, before heading over to the lively city of London for the London Fashion Week, then onto the captivating city of Milan for the Milan Fashion Week, and ends in the breathtaking city of Paris for the Paris Fashion Week.

The 6th of September marks the beginning of the fashion month, and it is expected that the designers are tweaking and perfecting their works of art. Giorgio Armani said it best when he said, “to create something exceptional, your mindset must be relentlessly focused on the smallest detail.”

As these incredible cities near their time to shine, curiosity does begin to build as well. How is it that these four cities became part of the Big 4?

Milan’s first fashion week was established in 1958, making it the second oldest fashion week of the four. The event is partially organized by the “National Chamber for Italian Fashion” [Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana]. This is a non-profit organization that works to coordinate and promote Italian fashion. The same organization takes on the responsibility to organize fashion shows and fashion events in Milan.

This is probably how Milan earned the title of Fashion Capital of the World. If you want to know what the upcoming fashion trends are, then all you’ll have to do is walk down the streets of Milan. Here’s what the Milan Fashion Week schedule looks like according to the Milano Moda Donna Website:
